All about the Richardson’s

Rogers continues to work for Impac Services, out of Vancouver WA. He is lucky enough to be able to work out of the office in our home. Doing just what he likes, working with computers. Some days working at home alone are easier for him than others but he is doing really well at his job. I appreciate how hard he works for us each day. This summer he joined the Men’s association at Birch Creek Golf Course, which allowed him to golf at least once a week. He really enjoyed that. He also loves to play basketball every chance he gets. We have a little Shih Tzu puppy named Buddee. He makes a great pal for Rogers while he is home working all day. He is 1 and still loves to play and chase all of his toys. We find ourselves laughing at him all the time.

Spencer graduated from Mountain Crest High School in May. He moved into a little apartment, in Logan with a buddy of his from school. He is realizing how much fun it is to be an adult. J

Holly is a junior at Logan High School. She turned 16 in March. During the summer she worked in Bear Lake, where she was able to save enough money to purchase a little car. She joined the Logan High swim team this year and has really enjoyed it. She is a fast little swimmer. She is still in the orchestra playing the clarinet. As you can expect we don’t see much of her as she is so busy.

Deven is in the 8th grade at Mount Logan Middle School. His final year before he will go to high school. Boy time really does fly. Deven has been really active in the scouting program with the young men in our ward. He spent a week at scout camp this summer and has been on quite a few little over night camps. I am so happy that he has made friends with the kids in our neighborhood.

As for me I still work at Thermo Fisher (HyClone). I continue to work on my scrapbooks, and have converted one of the rooms in our home into a craft room. I’m still in the process of getting it all together, but it will be so nice. You can stay up to date with us all year at www.kandikorner.blogspot.com I am truly blessed to be where I am in life.

Christmas is in the Air

Awhile back Rogers and I was shopping in his favorite store Wal-Mart, and we came across these Gingerbread House making kits. We thought it would be fun activity to do with Deven.

And as you can see it was. We bought two so that Rogers and Deven would each have one to make. It was fun watching them and seeing the creativity that each of them have.

I was afraid that Deven was either going to be sick because he was eating all his frosting or that the was not going to have enough to decorate his house with. He seemed to like the taste.

Time is Getting away from Me

I can't believe that it is already December. Can anyone really tell me where the time goes? It has been awhile since my last post so I will try and catch up.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am so bless to be where I am in my life. I am so thankful to have all of my family around, so that we can get together for the holidays.

On Thanksgiving I think I must have been so overwhelmed with everything that was going on, seeing Tyson home for the holiday and all the good food, I forgot and I only took one funny picture.

Kristina loves the marshmallows on the sweet potatoes and she told my mom that there were not enough on them. Of course my mom told her to put more on them if she wanted and 'Boy did she'. I had to take a picture of them in the oven the marshmallows were swelling up so big they were lifting off the glass lid. I have to admit they were very very tasty.

The Saturday following Thanksgiving was Rogers 41 Birthday. He thinks he is old but I have to keep telling him that we are not old. Well maybe we are but you are only as old as you feel right? and I still think that I am young.

Deven and Holly came over and spent the day with us for Rogers birthday and it made a perfect time to set on of our Christmas trees up. When I say one tree that is correct. I have to have two. One in the family room where we are all the time and one in the front window of our house. They are both really pretty when they are lit up at night.

Getting these three to smile for a picture is like pulling teeth. I always have to tell Deven after I take the first picture. "Ok this one is mine so smile nice". That usually works.
Here is the tree in our family room down stairs. I think Rogers and the kids did a great job decorating this tree. We call this tree our star tree. We made lots and lots of star ornaments last year for it. It was really fun to get them out this year and see them again.

Stay tuned for the other tree and the lights that Rogers so willing hung on the house. I can't tell you enough what a lucky girl I am.

Angels Walk Among Us

I can't help but reflect today how truly thankful and blessed that I am.

Last night my dad was in a terrible accident. He got low on his sugar and got confused coming home from work, he was very lucky.

I don't think you can tell from the picture how steep this edge was that he went over with his car. There was a tree stump in the middle of where you can see the tire tracks. The cops and my brothers say that him hitting that stump is what kept the car from going over on its top. (I hate to think what things would have been like if that was the case). He was able to get out of the car find his cell phone which by some miracle was on the dash board and once out of the car he was able to see his glasses on the floor board. He started to climb up the hill to get out of the river he was in, when he lost his footing and fell back down into the river, cracking the back of his neck and shoulder blades on one of those huge rocks. He said, at that time he was able to climb onto the bumper and take a bigger step to base of the tree and use the branches to help get him to the top. Mind you it is 8pm and in the canyon with no lights. He thought when he got to the top that he was on a gravel road but the farther he walked he was able to start seeing the lines in the road. Justin Facer, on of my brother Tyler's friends was the first to find him. Justin got him in his truck and took him to the nearest house to get him a drink by that time Tyler and Josh were there and picked him up brought him home. My mom took him to the ER were they put him on a board and in a neck brace so that they could do some CT scans. Lucky for him no broken bones, and no extra damage to the shoulder that he just had surgery on 4 weeks ago. I believe with all my heart that he was not alone last night. Someone was there helping him when we (his family) could not find him. Truly we are blessed.
I know that angels walk among us every day, some that we see and many that we don't. I can't say enough how blessed I am and how thankful I am that someone was watching over my family last night.

Weekend Getaway

Awhile back I signed us up for one of those time share deals. You know the type listen to there two hour spill and then get a two night stay for free. I thought it would be a great time for Rogers and I to get away.

First thing Sunday we head to Park City we arrive at the Canyons Resort and it is beautiful. They give us a key to some underground private parking and then we head to the lecture. We meet with Mike who is a really nice guy he tells us to get some lunch from this little buffet they have set up and then he starts the talk. It all sounds wonderful you can stay in all of these really nice places, share your time with family and friends. It all sounds awesome and I really wanted to do it, it was something that we though we could afford and might be really fun. Mike then takes us around the resort showing us all the fun and exciting things that you can do while you stay there and then he shows us the rooms they are so nice, decorated to the nines and includes all the amenities that a person could ever need.

Well in the end we tell him that it is really not something that we can do right now with the economy the way it is. I mean really it is kind of scary right now. I just can't get myself locked into something when I don't know what it is going to be like in the next few years.

Then it happened we checked into our room and it was so tiny. You had to wiggle the luggage in in door because of the sofa and kitchenette in the room which lead right into the bathroom and then right to the bed.

I told Rogers the best thing about it was just that we get to get away and it really didn't cost us that much $$$$$.

I was pretty sure that I could lay in the bed and put my feet in the sink.

This was amazing. I would go back with anyone that wants to see it.

I am working on a small gift for Rogers for Christmas and I needed some pictures of him and I, Deven and I and Rogers and Deven.

We just drove up to a park by our house and and we were able to snap a few photos.

Girls in my Circle

I loved this and wanted to share it will all the friends in my circle.

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman. And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.
Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, 'Let's cry together.
Another , 'Let's laugh together.'
Another , 'Let's walk away together.'
One friend will meet your spiritual need.
Another your shoe fetish.
Another your love for movies.
Another will be with you in your season of confusion.
Another will be your clarifier.
Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself .

Those are your best friends. It may all be wrapped up in one woman, But for many, it's wrapped up in several.
One from 7th grade.
One from high school.
Several from the college years.
A couple from old jobs.
On some days your mother.
On some days your neighbor.
On others your sisters.
And on some days, your daughters.

So whether they've been your friend for 20 minutes or 20 years they count. God has placed these girls in your circle to make a difference.
