Victory over Cancer

I have an amazing sister. For the second year in a row she has rode in the Little Red Riding Hood bike tour. This is a group of 2600 women that peddle a bike for 80 miles. She is amazing.

She started in Wellsville UT and half way took her to Lewiston UT, where they are given lunch and a little rest. (not long, you don't want to start cramping up). Then back on the road, weaving through Cache Valley back to Wellsville.

Huntyr did not like the wolf - He was scared

And she is off

Lucky for me my house sits on 600 S in Logan that is the rode that is the long stretch for her. I told her to tell me when she was at the pit stop in Benson so that I could start watching for her to come by. This year Rog waited out on the street with me so that I didn't feel like the $2.00 whore I was last year. I did get one cat call (thanks Charee). She was tired when she got to my street but only stopped long enough to blow her nose. Then she was off again

Here she is for her stop passing by my house

Catching a last drink before she is off again

We headed to Wellsville shortly after she left our house she only had 16 miles left. Once in Wellsville Rog and I waited with Josh and Huntyr for her to cross the finish line.

She did it in 2 1/2 hours faster than last year.

Way to go Pookie, thanks for riding for my "Victory over Cancer"

She crosses the finish line

Today I Will Make A Difference

I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful.

I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters.

I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark.

Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom.

I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant.

I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving.

Today I will make a difference.I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously.

No failure is fatal. It's OK to stumble...I will get up. It's OK to fail...I will rise again.

Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships.

Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.

Today I will make a difference.

I think if we all thought that this on a daily basis we would be much happier people.

It's been so long

Man I can't believe how long it has been since I posted last. I hope you all liked the little exercise of leaving me your email address; however I have decided for the time being not to go private. For now I will just try and catch up, and see if by any chance I can stay caught up. LOL

Easter came and went along with all of the spring yard work. Our yard is actually starting to look really good and in a month or so when all of the flowers are up and blooming I am sure it will be better. Lots of sweat goes into making it look good and sometimes I wonder why in the world be bought a house with such a big yard. (It is big to me, especially when I am mowing once a week)

On the 2nd of May my little brother Tyson married his sweetheart. We are so excited to have Brandy in our family. She is perfect match for Tyson. One week after their wedding they drove to Alaska to work for the summer. They are working in Denali and doing ATV tours through the park there. I call him often and wish he was home. I miss the dude.

Yesterday I finally got to see my dads twin brothers grave. He is buried in Ogden and I have asked my dad for years and years to take me and show me where he is buried. We went yesterday and it was really awesome for me. Brent was killed in the Vietnam War when he was twenty. I wrote a paper on him once for a college class that I had and after learning more about him I wanted to see where he was buried. Brent was 19 and heading to Washington DC to be a body guard for President Ford. Upon arriving in DC he was told by the president that he was needed in Vietnam, and when his tour was complete he would return to DC and work as a body guard for the President. Brent did make it back to DC but only as a name on the Memorial Wall. My next plan is for Rog and I to be able to go to DC and find his name there.

It can't hurt right??

My Sister sent me this email. I have been sick for a few day and thought I might try this out. It can't hurt right??

Facts on Honey and Cinnamon: It is found that a mixture of honey and cinnamon cures most diseases. Honey is produced in most of the countries of the world. Scientists of today also accept honey as a 'Ram Ban' (very effective) medicine for all kinds of diseases.Honey can be used without any side effects for any kind of diseases. Today's science says that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as a medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Weekly World News, a magazine in Canada , in its issue dated 17 January, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

HEART DISEASES:Make a paste of honey and cinnamon powder, apply on bread, instead of jelly and jam, and eat it regularly for breakfast. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries and saves the patient from heart attack. Also those who have already had an attack, if they do this process daily, they are kept miles away from the next attack. Regular use of the above process relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada , various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalize the arteries and veins.

ARTHRITIS:Arthritis patients may take daily, morning, and night, one cup of hot water with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of cinnamon powder. If taken regularly even chronic arthritis can be cured.. In a recent research conducted at the Copenhagen University, it was found that when the doctors treated their patients with a mixture of one tablespoon Honey and half teaspoon Cinnamon powder before breakfast, they found that within a week, out of the 200 people so treated, practically 73 patients were totally relieved of pain, and within a month, mostly all the patients who could not walk or move around because of arthritis started walking without pain.

BLADDER INFECTIONS:Take two tablespoons of cinnamon powder and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

CHOLESTEROL:Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, given to a cholesterol patient, were found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours. As mentioned for arthritic patients, if taken three times a day, any chronic cholesterol is cured. According to information received in the journal, pure honey taken with food daily relieves complaints of cholesterol.

COLDS:Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon powder daily for three days. This process will cure most chronic cough, cold, and clear the sinuses.

UPSET STOMACH:Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomach ache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.

GAS:According to the studies done in India and Japan , it is revealed that if honey is taken with cinnamon powder the stomach is relieved of gas.

IMMUNE SYSTEM:Daily use of honey and cinnamon powder strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. Scientists have found that honey has various vitamins and iron in large amounts. Constant use of honey strengthens the white blood corpuscles to fight bacteria and viral diseases.

INDIGESTION:Cinnamon powder sprinkled on two tablespoons of honey taken before food relieves acidity and digests the heaviest of meals.

INFLUENZA:A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural 'Ingredient' which kills the influenza germs and saves the patient from flu.

LONGEVITY:Tea made with honey and cinnamon powder, when taken regularly, arreststhe ravages of old age. Take four spoons of honey, one spoon of cinnamon powder and three cups of water and boil to make like tea. Drink 1/4 cup, three to four times a day. It keeps the skin fresh and soft and arrests old age. Life spans also increases and even a 100 year old, starts performing the chores of a 20-year-old.

PIMPLES:Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder paste.Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash it next morningwith warm water. If done daily for two weeks, it removes pimples from the root.

SKIN INFECTIONS:Applying honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts on the affected parts cures eczema, ringworm and all types of skin infections.

WEIGHT LOSS:Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, drink honey and cinnamon powder boiled in one cup of water. If taken regularly, it reduces the weight of even the most obese person. Also, drinking this mixture regularly does not allow the fat to accumulate in the body even though the person may eat a high calorie diet.

CANCER:Recent research in Japan and Australia has revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. Patients suffering from these kinds of cancer should daily take one tablespoon of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder for one month three time s a day.

FATIGUE:Recent studies have shown that the sugar content of honey is more helpful rather than being detrimental to the strength of the body. Senior citizens, who take honey and cinnamon powder in equal parts, are more alert and flexible. Dr. Milton, who has done research, says that a half tablespoon of honey taken in a glass of water and sprinkled with cinnamon powder, taken daily after brushing and in the afternoon at about 3:00 P.M. when the vitality of the body starts to decrease, increases the vitality of the body within a week.

BAD BREATH:People of South America , first thing in the morning, gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon powder mixed in hot water, so their breath stays fresh throughout the day.

HEARING LOSS:Daily morning and night honey and cinnamon powder, taken in equal parts restore hearing.

Sister Weekend

This past weekend Kristina and I attended the Scrapbook Expo in SLC. As always we had a great time. Over 200 vendors with lots of new product, stickers, paper, embellishments, and on and on and on.

Only five of us made it to this one. Usually we have over 10 of us together. The small number was still lots of fun and great laughs. At dinner I don't think my sister and I have laughed so hard. It was one of those nights when everything just seemed so funny.

I must say that I out did my self this time. Not sure if it was the small group or the fact that I wanted to stay page for page with Kristina. I usually only to about 4-6 layouts over the weekend. (I know slow right) But this time I was able to finish 9. That's right 9. Yeah for me.

I am already looking forward to the next one in Sept (11-12) for those who want to join us. After all the more the merrier.

Sunny San Diego

Last week Rogers had a business trip / vacation on Impac. Each year Impac hosts a trip that includes all employees and their significant others. Lucky Rogers, he got to take his wife. More like lucky me I got to go this time instead of just sending him and then hearing about all the beautiful things he was able to see.

This trip was in La Jolla CA which is a stone throw away from San Diego.

We arrived at the Torry Pines resort (golf fans, this is a PGA course)(very expensive). It was beautiful. We checked in and headed to Lunch, buffet style and very yummy. Then Rogers was off to a meeting for a few hours, I headed back to the room for the start of some R&R. That evening we had dinner at the Pacifica Cafe in Del Mar CA. It was near the ocean and the view of the sunset was beautiful; however I could not get my camera out of my purse before it was gone.

The next morning Rog and I was able to have breakfast together before he went off to meetings, 8am - 4pm. This left time for the girls to get together and check out down town La Jolla. I was able to get a picture of Mission Bay and some palm trees. We found a candy store that had all of the old time candy I remember from when I was little. We did lots of walking and checking out all of the little shops, it was so green and pretty their, especially after leaving Utah where it was 8 degrees when we left.

Once the meetings were over Impac had a closing social (drinks and reception food), a few couples (7) decided to find a restaurant so that we could get some dinner and we ended up at a pizza place near the San Diego temple. It was so beautiful all lit up white in the dark.

Next morning (Saturday) was our play day. We ended up going to Sea World with Greg and Andrea Smith & Chip and Becky Page. We had a great day running from place to place to make sure that we were able to catch all of the shows. The funniest thing at Sea World was that as we were leaving the Shamu show a Seagull decided that my head would make a great place for him to take a dump. Thanks to Andrea and her not having a weak stomach she was able to get all the bird poop out of my hair and off my shoulder. That evening the six of us headed to the GasLight district of San Diego and had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. My first time there and it was lots of fun.

I could have stayed a few more days but needless to say we were back on a plane Sunday and heading home. It was a fun trip and some nice time to just relax and spend some time with Rogers.

Happy Valentines Day

Rog was gone to Oregon/Washington last week on a business trip. He got back into town Thursday so I took that day off of work and drove to the airport to pick him up. He got in early enough, this trip that we were able to head into SLC for dinner. Of course we went to Rodizo's. If you have not eaten there it is in Trolley Square and you really should try it out, they have the best food and a drink called Brazilian Lemonade (it is lime and it is the best). Anyone out there know how to make it I would love for you to share the recipe with me.

While he was gone we had one of the big snow storms that we have had this past couple of weeks. When I left for work the morning after the storm our poor little tree out front looked like it was done for. I took a picture to show Rogers. I was for sure we were going to have to purchase another tree this spring, but after the snow melted it seems to be ok.

Yesterday was Valentines day. Rogers sent me flowers at work they are so pretty red and white and pink. This husband of mine knows me so well. I love flowers. Since he was gone all week I asked him if he would plan a romantic date for us. Of course he did, and it was wonderful. He made me this huge bubble bath with candles and music, locked the dog out and gave me some time just to myself to relax. While I was doing that he was making a candle light dinner. It turned out wonderful. He made BBQ ribs with rice and a veggie. When we got done eating I asked him if he wanted to dance with me. As those of you who know me well. I don't dance, maybe the word is I can't dance. Anyway we turned on some music and danced around the kitchen. Then he took me to the movie and bought me popcorn and a drink.

Do you like our fancy candle sticks?

I love that my new camera takes nice pictures (even of candle light)

Oh yes and don't forget even Buddee got a rib bone for Valentines Day.

Rog~Thanks for making Valentines Day all about me. I love you very much.
